Fugro-impROV was founded as impROV in Aberdeen in 2002 as a business focused on the provision of world class Subsea Engineering & Tooling. The five founding employees had a great depth of experience in this area and saw the creation of impROV as an environment where this technology could be greatly improved upon via a process of Evolution rather than Revolution. In essence this meant assessing the technology developed to that point in time within the Oil & Gas industry, technology which was still immature, and setting out to improve it dramatically in terms of reliability, operability and maintainability.
This approach has proved very successful, as demonstrated by products like the industry leading IMPROVISER Subsea Class 1-4 Torque Tool and of course the rapid growth of the impROV business. This growth included the opening of a second office in Houston in 2006 and the winning of two prestigious Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards in 2005 and 2006.
In 2007 impROV was acquired by Fugro and renamed Fugro-impROV. In keeping with Fugro’s proven successful model the business operates as an autonomous entity, still doing what it always did, thus ensuring continuity of service to Customers and the preservation of the innovative culture upon which the business was built. However, Fugro-impROV now benefit from the global reach of the Fugro Group as we enter the next phase of development and seek to position ourselves around the world in a manner that best serves our Customers.
Today as a constituent company within Fugro Subsea Services Division, Fugro-impROV employ over 60 people across our two locations and we have ambitious plans to grow our business in the deepwater development regions around the world.
